Sabirah SS25
Deborah Latouche, founder of Sabirah, is a visionary stylist and creative director known for her bold, eccentric approach. She specialises in demi-couture modest wear, combining elegance with a deep commitment to sustainability. Sabirah’s Spring/Summer collection is dedicated to the intimacy of being understood by those we care for most. Latouche states “I was inspired by recent family events where I truly saw what it meant for a community to come together and show love, unity, and empathy at a time of need. It’s so special and something that the world needs right now. Our house was full of cards and sweet-smelling flowers that reminded me of Monet’s beautiful painterly scenes of the French countryside.”. Latouche's personal sentiment is not only woven into the fabric of the collections but also expressed through the show’s setting - a grand white townhouse opposite Hyde Park, with warm lighting from an array of lamps, plush sofas, and velvet chairs - an inviting space evoking the ambiance of a dreamy Gen-Z living room in a chic London flat.
Latouche’s collection was truly stunning, a harmonious blend of garments in delicate hues of light rose, aqua, sage, lemon meringue, cocoa, and cream.
These colours felt reminiscent of the soft, serene tones in Monet’s Artist’s Garden at Giverny, where the rich blues and vibrant greens of Irises seem to sway gently in the breeze, bringing the artwork and Latouche’s collection to life. This vision is further reinforced by the reintroduction of a vibrant Paisley Rainbow print, making its first appearance since 2022. The addition of this striking pattern deepened the concept of bringing traditional art forms, like painting, to life through the fluidity and movement of the fabrics. The print work added a dynamic layer, evoking the sense of a mural in motion throughout the collection.
After debuting her vibrant array of coloured garments, Latouche presents pieces for the modern bride in her Loving Modest collection, embodying the collection's central theme - love. Cream silk, taffeta, and striped organza adorned structured gowns, jackets, and capes, beautifully exploring the feminine form with elegance and grace. Adding to the collection's mystique, delicate clear and glittering crystals were lightly scattered across the shoulders of capes and the statement bell jacket, enhancing its ethereal charm. These intricate details were complemented by candy-floss textured hair, styled into elegant, modern swirls atop an interwoven cornrow base. This stunning hairstyle, crafted by Nick Irwin and the Schwarzkopf team, offered a visual nod to the Victorian era, blending historical inspiration with contemporary sophistication.
The show was a sublime portrayal of love in its purest form - warm, sweet, and comforting to those who embrace it, making the challenges of life feel worthwhile.
