Eccentric, authentic and inquisitive: Ali Hadji Heshmati is an up and coming actor with an underlying curiosity for the world around him.
Ali’s informal and serene style at first blush could lean towards the model rather than the actor. The collection of clothes chosen by the Garmst machine learning algorithm and styled by Gabby, Co-Founder of a new menswear clothing rental service ‘Garmst’, empowers the aesthetic in accentuating the features of the wearer, but there is a greater good here. Ali, along with other men, is participating in what is sustainable but personalised fashion. As a family run business, I later discovered every item that is available through 'Garmst' is designer with additional hand-picked vintage pieces - an additional bonus to stand out from the fashion retail crowd.
Ali’s current focus is on his acting. In the new Netflix series, 'Lockwood&Co', Ali portrays one of the protagonists. 'George Karim', a passionate, obsessive, and hyper-fixated teenager with an indisputable thirst for knowledge. We find society completely changed - the world is experiencing an epidemic of ghosts whilst attempting to survive in a modernity unlike our own, a non-technological reality. A wave of terror and fear reigns as these malevolent spirits begin to gain power, feeding on the harm that they cause to those of us who do not live in the in-between. In an attempt to fight the battle between the living and the undead, the teenage ghost fighting agency 'Lockwood&Co' is born. Utilising the sixth sense of teenagers, and without any adult assistance or supervision, they take it upon themselves to save the day in the hope of victory.

While the resourceful attributes of George Karim are undeniably useful when fighting the undead, they also inspire Ali, who wishes to emulate these traits into his everyday life. With a passion for acting, and the good fortune of being discovered by his agent's assistant after seeing his school play, from that moment on, Ali's acting career has blossomed. An assortment of auditions followed for Ali: some of these included ‘Alex Rider'; 'Holby City'; 'Bad Education'; and, of course, the latest, 'Lockwood&Co'.
Not only does Ali thrive in the performance environment of an artist, but he has also followed his passion for literature by reading the subject further at Oxford University. Could the symbiosis of these two art forms be possible in Ali’s future? Just maybe - Ali’s love for acting, directing, and film writing always remain close to his heart - so watch this space, as this young man is definitely one to look out for.
